ABC GIVING TREE X TMSA

Tasmanian Men’s Sheds throw their support behind the ABC Giving Tree
Today (tomorrow) is International Men’s Day and in Tasmania there’s a number of functions taking place around the State to mark this important day.
The health and well-being of Members of Men’s Shed’s in Tasmania remains a major part of what the Men’s Shed movement is about.
Tasmanian Men’s Shed Association’s (TMSA) President Keith Ellis said ‘While the perception maybe that Men’s Sheds are about men making things in their local shed, it’s much more than that. Our Shed members play an important role within their communities and provide places where men can get together, have a chat, overcome loneliness and isolation and also transition from working life into retirement’.
TMSA has also chosen today to announce their Christmas Fundraiser which this year will be supporting the ABC Giving Tree. As the Giving Tree 2020 is cash only, and with a clear understanding that this Christmas is going to be tough for many, TMSA and their Member Sheds will run an on-line auction with all funds raised being donated to the Giving Tree. The Auction will go live on Sunday 29 November.
Mr. Ellis said ‘Our organisation and members are big givers, not just at Christmas time but giving to their community all year round and we are pretty thrilled with not only the magnificent variety of items that have been donated so far, but the quality of the workmanship that we are becoming so well known for.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thanks those Member Sheds that have donated so far as we remain committed to doing our best to help Tasmanian families in times of need’ he said.
While many TMSA Member Sheds will quietly celebrate International Men’s Day, TMSA representatives will have an information stall at the Men’s Resources Tasmania’s Annual International Men’s Day Breakfast in Hobart.
ENDS.
